1. Who we are
Electrification Directory connects homeowners searching for heat pump and electrification work with verified local contractors. This policy covers information collected through the website, our contractor dashboard, and related email communications. Questions go to hello@electrificationdirectory.com.
2. Information we collect
We collect different information depending on how you use the site:
- Homeowners requesting a quote: name, email, phone number, property address or ZIP code, and details about your project (heating type, description, preferred contact method) — submitted directly through a contractor's listing page.
- Contractors: business name, license number, insurance and business-registration documents, certifications, service area, and account credentials. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile photo from Google; if you sign in by email link, we only use your email address to send the sign-in link.
- Payment information: processed directly by Stripe for lead credit purchases and subscription billing. We store the resulting subscription/credit records, not your card details.
- Usage data: pages viewed, listing impressions, and search activity, used in aggregate to improve search relevance and show contractors how their listing is performing.
3. How we use it
- To deliver a homeowner's quote request to the contractor they selected.
- To verify a contractor's license, insurance, and business registration before approving a listing.
- To process lead-credit and subscription payments via Stripe.
- To send contractors operational and lifecycle emails — new-lead notifications, low-credit warnings, and automated follow-up sequences triggered by account activity (for example, a reminder when a subscription is about to expire or a profile is incomplete). These are account-related, not third-party marketing; every automated email includes a way to stop receiving it.
- To detect abuse — for example, rate-limiting repeated quote submissions from the same email to the same contractor.
4. Who we share it with
A homeowner's quote request is shared with the specific contractor they submitted it to — that is the core function of the directory. We also share data with the service providers that run the platform, strictly to operate it:
- Stripe — payment processing for contractor subscriptions and lead credits.
- Resend — transactional and account email delivery (lead notifications, sign-in links, nurture sequences).
- Google — only if you choose to sign in with a Google account.
We do not sell homeowner or contractor data to third parties, and we do not share a homeowner's contact details with any contractor other than the one they submitted a request to.
5. Data retention
Quote requests and contractor account records are retained for as long as the account is active, plus a reasonable period afterward for accounting, dispute resolution, and fraud prevention. Verification documents (license, insurance, business registration) are retained while a listing is active and for their stated expiration period, after which they are subject to re-verification or removal.
6. Your choices
- Contractors can update or delete profile information from their dashboard, or request account deletion by email.
- Automated nurture and outreach emails include an unsubscribe option; opting out does not affect transactional emails like lead notifications you've paid credits for.
- Homeowners can request that we delete a submitted quote request by contacting us directly.
7. Changes to this policy
If we make a material change to how we collect or use information, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify contractor accounts by email.
